I could still remember the things I did when I was chosen as one of the participants.

I could still remember how it feels to ride on an airplane without any  elder companion.

I could still smell the essence of being at Negros Occidental.

At this point of time I’ve been missing so much the things we always do everyday for that ten day seminar.I have learned so much from the teachers I have met, they were so good that I have been wishing of seeing them again. The classmates I’ve been with. I was so pleased being with them It was very precious to me that even a single happening and event that happened there was always with my mind as I continue maintaining the only lifetime remembrance I have “The Blog of mine”.

One thing that makes me laugh was the time I was there. There were times I was laughing so much and so hard and so with my new friends there. We were in complete state of happiness with contentment in our hearts. That was really very memorable.

The fun we had was because of CICT and so with the Campblog Staffs , the mentors and the participants as well. God will really shower them beautiful blessings because of the countless and priceless learnings we’ve got.

Thank you So much for that FUN WE HAD AT NEGROS OCCIDENTAL!

Wow! summer have just ended

I received this text message from my friend and I really realized that this favorite hangout is  over and summer is over too. The gist of scholastic activities are on our way. Its nice to be back in school! nice to meet our new classmates and encounter remarkable teachers  for this new school year.

The essence of being a student is here!

Well, as a student we should have our own preparation for this event.

Here are some of my tips to get you ready for school.

      *Prepare and have your basic requirement in school specifically your school supplies. These stuffs are needed of course in schooling.

      *Arrange these things in your bag properly before the first day begins.

      * Advance study and review these lessons. Its nice to prepare ourselves with such learnings, right?

      * Sleep early. unlike the summer days, this time we should sleep early in order to wake up early. Its best to be a prompt student.

      * Have yourself totally prepared for school. This is the best way you could do. Be excited, think positive for school and get ready for the events that will happen for this school year!

These are just tips, but at least these will help you a little in your first day in

 school.

Summer is really over and another school year for all pupils and us students is really here. Lets get ready for this year, bringing our best and guts!

Our family have been living at Impasugong for almost 15 long years and with that, I have witnessed how it slowly evolved and continued to stay strong as time goes by. I also learned to love the place and explored the uniqueness of the hometown I have.

Impasugong can always be recognized because of cattle, cows and horses. Everybody know that Impasugong is the ” Home of Country’s Finest Cowboys” and is considered as “Rodeo Capital of Mindanao”

I love Impasugong, its my birthplace and with this I started to research its history and a little of its tradition and culture. There is a feature of  the place where I am so interested with, its all about the different tribal rituals made by an old native man or “Datu” who knows how to do it, these are made for a specific reason and season.

These are the following tribal ritual made and its brief info:

PAMAHANDI– It is a thanksgiving ritual for all the blessings a particular person received for the entire year. This as made on the first month of the year

PAMALAS–It is a lumad version of a wedding ceremony

SINAMPO–It is a Higaonon way of a ritual prayer.This prayer is made before the Kalalagan festival formally opens.

TAMPODA HO BALAGON– A traditional way of ending a dispute among the tribes. the ritual involves the  scattering of sand and water.

Impasugong is the land of treasures, but not of gold  or precious stones, but is rich with natural  resources like pineapples, banana and high value vegetables and others .That is why we, the people of Impasugong are satisfied of the simple lives we have.

When it comes to livelihood. Indigenous products such abaca–based  handicrafts are skillfully woven, and of course according to the http://r10.dti.gov.ph--these products are “time-honored crafts reflecting the rich culture and tradition of Bukidnon tribes.”

Impasugong Bukidnon is really my pride. For me its really a hidden paradise, it should be discovered for I know this simple place will be one of the future’s most productive municipality not just inside the province of Bukidnon but also in the whole Philippines.

Just when I heard of a place called Negros Occidental, a thought of just a simple place came into my mind. But in the journey that I have experienced ,I soon found out that the place was really an extraordinary one.

The first stop was at the cradle of history, Silay city. I witnessed the splendid ancestral houses of hacienderos or the sugar cane planters. Stories of each house were great and unbelievable just like how a boy court a girl , how all the ladies respect with all their heart the Holy People or the priests and how the children were disciplined well by their parents. It was different, the things that happened that time were very inspiring.

These are some of the ancestral houses I visited:

–Negros Occidental

Buglas is Negros, it is a Hiligaynon term for “cut off”. This means that this boot-shaped island was separated from the nearby islands of the Philippines specifically in Visayas like Bohol and Cebu and this was due to a geological upheaval that happened thousands of years ago.

The island is 50 miles at its broadest and 30 miles at its narrowest breath. Mt. Kanlaon is located at the center of the island. It is divided into two provinces, Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.

–History

Negritoes (ati) or tagahitas were the first people who lived in the mountain areas of Negros Occidental, they were effective herbalists and hunters.Indonesians were the second group of people who reached the place and were agricultural villagers, Malays were the last group from Borneo headed by Datu Puti.

Negrenses believed in the ancient beliefs like the kang-laun which means “belonging to the old one”. They also believed in chanting and for them it was not being possessed by an evil spirit but it was to go above self. Beliefs in forces of nature or phenomenon that they could not understand but were feared were also on their records as a product of their history.

These are some of the enchanted creatures and word spoken to protect the person from the unknown elements:

• kama-kama
• Diwata
• kapre-
• Bulalakaw
• amalanhig
• ukoy
• aswang
• panabi-tabi

When the Spaniards discovered Negros, the original beliefs of the native Negrenses slowly faded and changed into a Spanish taste, the structure of the province also changed and Encommiendas and Pueblos were established.

When it comes to Sugar Industry, Don Yves Germaine Gaston is the name you can remember with. He is first person who brought sugarcane in Negros. He tried the different places of the whole Visayas and fortunately he was able to find the best spot and it was in Negros. The booming of sugar industry made Negros Occidental famous and hailed as “The Sugar Capital of the Philippines.”

These are the common words used by the natives and Spaniards:

• Haciendas– hacenderos
• Batel–sailboats
• cawa—cauldron
• Pulot—melting Sugarcane
• bayong—sack made from buri palm
• jornaleros– resident sugarcane workers
• sacadas– transient sugarcane workers

–Art

“Artist is both born and made.” it needs deliberation, interpretation and skill. Art gives meaning to our lives, to the people around us and especially to the Negros people because they treat it as endless as eternity.

Talking about the art in Negros occidental, whenever there is art, there is always a connection that bonds to the lives of the Negrenses. Literature, religion,politics, food, science, industry,etc are all connected and when these things are made or applied, for them the art is also linked.

–Culture

Culture is the soul of one’s nation. It is the refinement of tastes and manners, and when a person who has no idea about it suffer from an identity crisis.

When it comes to culture of Negros, it talks about a very broad manifestation of the whole entity of their place. These are their lifestyle, houses, delicacies,religion,attire, literature ,festival,tradition and practices and so with love making.

Absolutely! Negros Occidental is a place of great adventure, historical places and artistic literature.

Why fly?

You would probably ask me why I choose this kind of heading, why not discover this? Why not know the reason and be convinced to fly and reach it to the highest.

Have you ever seen a bird flying up so high? Have you ever wonder why they soar to the highest? Why they move to discover something? Its because that’s the way life it is.

Learning is the basic source of knowledge and of course the school is an institution where everyone learn, activities in school can always be stored in this blog and so with the daily facts. Trainings and workshops never end and these are our guide in our everyday life. Learning will never end, it will always continue to process and is definitely a lifetime.

In this journey of life we all have discovery of the different places we have gone and so with the place where we could find the sweetest word “HOME”. Let us tour the world and experience the majestic power of God in the beauty of nature and in the creativity of the people.

But in line with the above ideas, discovering our own is the most significant learning we could ever achieve in our whole life. Lets start it with the basic things and down to the most complicated in us.
